Our Why

Computer science is a 21st-century skill that enables kids to be creators, rather than just consumers, of technology. In 2015 according to the National Center for Information & Technology, a mere 25% of the computing workforce were women. About 74% of young girls express interest in STEM fields and computer science. Looking at statistics, it is obvious that girls are deterred.

Our Mission

To raise the aspirations of Black and Minority Ethnic Girls aged 9-16 by providing virtual workshops on coding as well as valuable skills such as creative writing and public speaking. The programme also aims to inspire the girls through inspirational talks from BAME women in the technology field.

CURRICULUM

Storytelling (2018)

In Storytelling, students use computer science to tell fun and interactive stories. Storytelling emphasizes creativity by encouraging students to tell a unique story each day.

Friends (2020)

In Friends, students are encouraged to sign up with a friend or make a new friend in the class. Friends emphasize teamwork by allowing students to tell the story of how their friendship started and imagine a company together.

Fashion Tech (2019)

In Fashion & Design, students learn how computer science and technology are used in the fashion industry while building fashion-themed programs, like a fashion walk, a stylist tool, and a pattern maker.
